It's nice that they are under other advisors, so the colleague/friend issue doesn't come up as much. (Of course, some of that varies for people, so maybe this is something one thinks is more of a professional favor...?)<br /><br />Grad school is just weird in general. I have made one really good friend in grad school, and several acquaintances. I feel okay talking about a certain level of personal issues with some of these people, but it is definitely on a more superficial level.
